Empowering Kindness Through Global Initiatives

World Kindness Movement: History & Leadership

The World Kindness Movement (WKM) is a global coalition of organizations and individuals committed to building a kinder world. Established over 25 years ago, WKM is the founding organization behind World Kindness Day, celebrated annually on November 13th, and has been a driving force in placing kindness on the global agenda.

With members from over 30 nations, WKM’s mission is to inspire individuals toward greater kindness and connect countries and communities through collaborative acts of compassion. The movement encourages the formation of national kindness organizations and promotes international cooperation through membership, united under the shared belief that kindness transcends all cultural, political, and religious boundaries.

WKM calls on individuals, institutions, and governments to say "Yes to Kindness" in One Voice, and continues to lead global efforts in creating policies, partnerships, and programs that foster a culture of kindness in schools, workplaces, and communities.

We are proud to share that our NERDS RULE INC founder is now serving her second term as the General Secretary of the World Kindness Movement. Her leadership reflects our deep commitment at NERDS RULE INC. to advancing kindness, healing, and positive change both locally and globally.

The Kinder City Project

The Kinder City Project: Empowering Youth to Lead with Kindness

At NERDS RULE INC., we believe that kindness is more than a gesture—it’s a powerful force for change. That’s why we’re proud to announce the revitalization of The Kinder City Project, led by our visionary Founder and General Secretary of the World Kindness Movement.

This reimagined initiative gives youth, teens, and young adults from our NERDS RULE INC. programs the opportunity to create and lead a Kindness & Wellness Committee. This committee will serve as a youth advisory group, meeting with city council members and government officials to help their communities take real steps toward becoming recognized as a Kinder City.

Through leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, these young changemakers will be at the forefront of designing policies and campaigns that promote kindness, mental wellness, and inclusion at the city level.

In 2024, under the leadership of our founder, the City of Sicily in Italy became the first city to receive the Kinder City recognition, following a historic presentation to the President and Prime Minister of Italy.

Now, we are expanding this opportunity locally and globally.

If you have youth, teens, or young adults who are passionate about community change and would like to join the Kinder City Committee, please email our founder and General Secretary of the World Kindness Movement at: general-secretary@theworldkindnessmovement.org

Together, let’s continue planting seeds of kindness and hope—one city at a time.

NERDS RULE INC. Expands Global Impact with Kindness Partnership in Italy

We are thrilled to announce a powerful new chapter in the global movement for kindness and social transformation! NERDS RULE INC., under the leadership of our founder, and Movimento Italiano per la Gentilezza (MIG), led by Natalia Re, have officially joined forces to foster kindness, education, mental wellness, and social impact across international borders.

Rooted in research and inspired by a mutual vision for a kinder world, this partnership is focused on creating meaningful opportunities for youth, young adults, and incarcerated individuals. Together, we are placing mental health awareness, leadership, and community action at the forefront of our joint mission.

This collaboration builds on the success of the 2024 World Kindness Conference in Italy, co-hosted by our founder, which united global leaders, educators, and changemakers in Palermo to celebrate and commit to kindness as a core social value. That transformative gathering served as the catalyst for this global alliance—one that is now blossoming into bold action and outreach.

What’s Next?

NERDS RULE INC. and MIG will launch a Community Research of Kindness Project to identify the needs of underserved populations and implement initiatives in:

  • Educational pathways

  • Workforce training

  • Mental health and wellness

  • Climate change education

  • STEM leadership for youth and young adults

Together, we are building bridges of hope, empowering communities, and transforming lives—starting in Italy and expanding across the globe.
